Moda Entertainment Launches Official Ida Lupino Website

MODA Entertainment’s public relations and marketing division, PublicityBox is proud to announce the launching of the new website for the iconic actress, writer, director and producer. The website (idalupino.com) entitled Ida Lupino: Iconoclast, is a comprehensive online repository on the life and legacy of this female pioneer of the film industry. The site is launched to coincide with MODA Entertainment’s licensing division, LicenseBox, in its efforts representing the name and likeness of Ida Lupino for merchandising and licensing worldwide in all categories and media.

Aside from Lupino's extensive and varied career, off-screen her name and image are synonymous with style, beauty and sophistication. Ida Lupino holds the crown as the most prolific American women actress, writer director and producer in history of early Hollywood. Between 1949 and 1954, Lupino wrote and directed six features directed by others. Later, for television, her filmography catalogues work for over thirty serials, including Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Twilight Zone Thriller, Have Gun Will Travel, and the Fugitive.

Few women have enjoyed the multi-faceted career of Hollywood icon Ida Lupino, whose remarkable career stretched over seven decades. Lupino became known for her hard-boiled roles, and appeared in such films as They Drive by Night (1940) and High Sierra (1941), both opposite Humphrey Bogart. She acted regularly and was in high demand throughout the 1940s. From 1949 until 1960 Ida Lupino wrote more than a dozen movies and teleplays. One of her best know screenplays was The Hitchhiker (1953) that she also directed. also produced movies in an era when it was rare for a woman to hold that kind of position and power. Lupino's role as producer, remains resonant because of her unique ability to succeed in an occupation which was dominantly coded as "masculine." Ida Lupino became on of Hollywood's most prolific director. She described herself as being bored on set while "someone else seemed to be doing all the interesting work."
